Keep Going and Growing

Continuing to learn and reflect through all seasons of life….

Full speed ahead

I recently was at a hotel and when going to the gym one morning, there was a guy I noticed hop on a treadmill that took off running at a rapid pace. No warm-up whatsoever. In that moment, I thought of how often I’ve been guilty of doing that with a thought or idea. I don’t pray about it, I just run right ahead. I’ve heard before that when you step out in your own power, you have to maintain it in your own power. I’ve found this to be true and have burnt out often because I haven’t asked God to sustain me, or if even if it’s something He wants me to do. Even our little yeses can have a ripple impact (positively or negatively).

Psalm 92: 13-15 states: Planted in the house of the Lord,
They will flourish in the courts of our God.
[Growing in grace] they will still thrive and bear fruit and prosper in old age;
They will flourish and be vital and fresh [rich in trust and love and contentment];
[They are living memorials] to declare that the Lord is upright and faithful [to His promises];
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.

Optional journal prompt: Is there anything currently you are doing in your life that you are having to sustain vs. God? If so, ask Him if it’s time to let that item go and if not, for Him to sustain it.
